Dog - Cal’s Review - 6/10

Surprisingly quite good. I assumed it’d be typical cheesy film about a Dog, probably relying on tropes to see it through, however this unexpectedly was a very emotional take on war and the effects it can have on you physically and mentally. There was an interesting kind of ‘opposite parallel’ between the dog and a Channing. He couldn’t let go of wanting to return as a ranger despite his trauma, and the dog was suffering from PTSD and anxiety post-war, they both developed together in a very visceral and close way throughout the film and ultimately unwinded their negatives together to lead you to a satisfying finish. There was some great comedy, some powerful emotional moments, and all in all some great depth given the ‘basic look’ of the film.
