La La Land - Cal’s Review - 10/10

Wonderful. This movie was a celebration of art and music and old style Hollywood. It felt a like a completely faithful take on many different styles and genres of film blended into a mild and smoothly tasteful satire of the world that you journey through with the excellent leading stars.

The musical nature of the film flowed like water, the colourful well-crafted scenes and jazzy soulful songs were weaved together masterfully and magically with high points and low points reflected in the very movements of the film and sound. 

Truly a utterly pleasant watch, joyous to witness and ponder about as an afterthought, beautifully written and executed in all regards, I would watch this again in a heartbeat, from the bold and fun beginning to the heart throbbing, poetic end.

Be ready to hum the main track with a smile, it’ll grab you.
