Léon: The Professional - Cal’s Review - 8/10

Strange at times, but the greatness shines through enough for this to be considered a good film. I enjoyed the unique take on assassination and the methods Leon uses and teaches. Gary Oldman was definitely the stand out performance, he makes you feel deeply unsettled whenever he’s on screen. There was some amazing thematic shots and music that made this film feel very stylistic. I think there was a bit too much weird emphasis on the relationship between Leon and Mathilda, it was an interesting dynamic with Leon being so child minded and being close with someone else so young and seeing him develop emotionally as a character, but it just felt a little ‘wrong’ in certain moments, especially given she had fallen for him.

8/10.
