City of God - Cal’s Review - 9/10

This film felt like the World Cinema version of Pulp Fiction. You get thrown around as the viewer between time-mirroring stories of different and interesting/worthy characters, deep diving their lives in all their grit and building up the world they live in and the story of the movie that ultimately leads you to the culmination of all out war on each other.

This films setting is powerful and it immerses you in the slums and their way of life quickly and very well, it handles it’s time jumps without any issues or difficulty to follow, and the separate stories collapsing in on each other, along with the overall message the movie wants to give was executed brilliantly.

9/10.
