Obi Wan Kenobi - Cal’s Review - 8/10

I don't know why more people didn't enjoy this if I'm honest.

I know there is an element of die hard fans not being best pleased, but realistically this was a brilliantly fun show to watch, my only real judgement being the 'rushed' feeling of a lot of it throughout...
Not in an awful way that ruined anything for me, it just felt like more episodes would have allowed for more attention to detail with certain scenes and portions of the show, if you compare this to Mando for example, which feels 'slow' when compared to this, it just felt like everything was moving at 100mph which lost a bit of depth in some moments and you feel like it's over in a flash.

Otherwise though, I loved the young Leia actress, what a great young performer, I loved the subplot with the inquisitor and the links to being a youngling when Anakin originally descended to the dark side, it felt like a nice way of making her worthy of being in the show so often. I really enjoy Ewan as Obi, he just feels like that character to a tee for me, it filled me with nostalgia of watching Star Wars so young and although the prequels weren't brilliant compared to the original trilogy, I always loved him in the role.

Another thing to point out obviously, is the Darth action, the initial meeting of the two was tense, the darkness they show within Vader is wild, he literally turns up and decimates people on his way through to Obi-Wan, and the battles we see of them throughout and some of the dialogue felt like nice big moments every fan would dream of seeing on screen, I just really enjoyed it as fan-service-y as it was!

Ultimately if you enjoy Star Wars content there shouldn't be any crazy reason to not enjoy this despite some of the conflicting opinions out there. It may not be perfect if you're a deep diving lore lover and perfectionist or whatever, but if you just love some good sci-fi and some more story in the Star Wars universe and love seeing the gaps between movies filled in, this is a good lil’ show for it.

8/10.
